“And he said to them, come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.” Mark 6:31 ESV
I Was Running on Empty
I was tired and weary. I was going through the motions of serving in ministry, but I became tapped out. Outwardly, I continued to sing worship songs, pray, share God’s word, and encourage the hearts of God’s people. Inwardly, my soul was empty and I was desperate to be filled up with God’s strength just for me. In all my serving and pouring out, my soul was depleted. Taking time out to restore my soul was vital to continuing to live out my God given assignments.
If you have been running or serving on empty for far too long, I invite you to pause and prioritize self-care for your soul.
Choose Self-Care
Choosing self-care is an affirmation that our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being matters.
When we strengthen self-care for our souls, we can better serve from a place of wholeness.
Your personal well-being and health depend on your willingness to say “yes” to self-care.
Being fully present for your family is directly connected to you strengthening your soul well.
Here are 3 powerful reasons to strengthen self-care for your soul:
As I continue to serve in ministry and be present for my family, prioritizing self-care for my soul is a part of my everyday routine. I encourage you to be filled with God’s strength and listen to your soul when it needs attention. Carve out 15-30 minutes a day to have a devotional time, do something that brings you joy, and be filled for the journey ahead.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for giving me the wisdom and courage to strengthen self-care for my soul. Thank you for freeing me from guilt about prioritizing myself. Thank you for the rest that you provide to empower me moving forward. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Action Question: How will you incorporate self-care for your soul during this season? Let me know in the comments.
